It was Nintendo's creative choice to not port Mario 64 with 60fps to Switch as it's not like they couldn't they chose not to. it's kinda redundant feature as you don't even need to implement one when you play. But, if you wanted to you can just as easily not save your progress while you play or delete your file if you die. If you are talking about permadeath I think that is a rather silly feature to put in a Mario game. Unlike Microsoft they do not own a storefront on PC nor does it promote another part of their business like Microsoft owning Windows and Xbox to even have one. Nintendo has no incentive to release a PC port of any of their games.
